Camera prize at the Five Lakes Film Festival

During the 17th Five Lakes Film Festival Michael Campos Viola donated a camera award that honors both technical mastery and the emotional impact of cinematography. The 2023 recipient was German DoP Frank Griebe (“Run Lola Run”, “Perfume”, “Babylon Berlin”).

After the handover Festival Director Matthias Helwig talked with Griebe about his approach: deep conversations with directors, meticulous preparation and enough space for spontaneous creativity on set.

The award is endowed with €2,500. The audience also got to watch Griebe’s latest feature “The Dive”, which kept everyone on the edge of their seats.
